Evolve or Stall
Staffing isn’t a “set it and forget it” game.
We’ve lived in our house for six years now. We bought it right after our first child was born, and I remember moving in and being amazed by all the closet space. But do you know what all that space usually means? More places to stash things and forget about them for years—like my wife’s old sorority shirts from college or the band T-shirts I collected over the years. Sure, it’s handy around Christmas (perfect for hiding gifts of all sizes), but it got me thinking: how often should we go through and reassess what we’re storing?
I’m not saying we should toss out cherished memories from school or those sentimental keepsakes, but what about the clothes that haven’t fit in five years? Or the sweater you bought for that one party, hated wearing, and never touched again—but kept because it was expensive? Sometimes, it’s worth reevaluating what’s taking up space and deciding what’s still valuable and what’s not.
That got me thinking about sales and staffing—probably because my desk is near the closet. The same principle applies: never “set it and forget it.” Revisit your processes, your organization, and your fit. Sometimes, those small tweaks you uncover during a reevaluation can make all the difference. And just like clearing out a closet, it feels great to make room for something better.

Evolve or Stall
Staffing isn’t a “set it and forget it” game. It’s a process that demands regular attention to make sure your people and your systems still fit the needs of your business. Things change—markets shift, goals evolve, and priorities realign. If you’re not revisiting roles and processes regularly, you might find yourself stuck with a team structure that’s holding you back instead of driving you forward.
This isn’t about flipping everything upside down once a year or when something breaks. It’s about making constant, intentional adjustments. Are the roles you have today still the right ones for where your company is headed? Are the people in those roles empowered to deliver what’s needed? Just like in lean manufacturing, small, consistent improvements are what keep you sharp and competitive.
This isn’t about throwing people or processes away—it’s about keeping them aligned with the bigger picture. When you treat staffing as an ongoing effort, you create a team that’s adaptable, energized, and ready to crush whatever comes next. That’s how you build a team that drives an unstoppable culture.
